More about fungi

In a couple of weeks I have a gathering of people here who will be looking at fungi with a visiting expert. This the first time they will have used my farm so I thought I had better go out and see if we have any! Two weeks is a long time in the life of a mushroom of course but where there are some now there should be more later.

There were quite a few I’m pleased to say , particularly in the woods. I just wish I knew what they are and of course, whether they are any good for dyeing. Of course I shall be part of the fungi group so should get to find out in a couple of weeks. What does strike me is just how beautiful some of them are. Yes they might be slimy, smelly and dissolve into a disgusting goo but they really are quite spectacular and out of this world when you get up close. It was a gloomy, wet day today so apologies for the fact that the pictures are a little dark.
